Kids learn the difference between beat and rhythm exploring African, Latin, marching, and rock rhythms on djembes, congas, timbales, gathering drums, hand drums and percussion instruments and rock drum kit. Deeply rooted stories ground the rhythms, and kids improvise rhythms patterns of their own.
Clockwise from top left:
1. Movement and full body learning are critical to grasping musical concepts. Kids are feeling African rhythms while learning how to play them on djembes and drums. 2. Every session ends with a Demonstration Night, a chance for big kids to share with their families all they've been learning. 3. Kids practice marching rhythms on the snare drum. 4. Rockin out on the real rock drum set. Boom-cha-ching!
